THROUGH HEAVEN'S WINDOW
I sit by my bed peering out through the window
Looking for where you might be tonight
Sometimes the clouds may obscure the view
Sometimes they give way to a moonlit night.
All of earth is asleep, all is quiet
It's a crisp clear sky above
I see the stars flickering in the distance
The moon emanating its awesome, elegant glow
You must be among the stars
Free as you can be, my dear
Prancing with the heavenly hosts
Far as you may be, yet near
My eyes diligently scan the skies
Hoping that you would appear
Just a glimpse of you
My weary heart would cheer
But wait, is that you I see?
Looking down through heaven's window
Your eyes searching for the light
Shining through earth's shadows
Do you see the light kept aglow for you
Hoping you will look this way
A small candle here there'll always be
Until the dawn of day
The twinkle of those distant lights
Somehow remind me of the sparkle in your eyes
Radiant, serene, beckoning,
Resplendent against the evening skies
Every night through this window I will look
Having the multitude of stars in view
My eyes peeled on that one star
And maybe to catch a glimpse of you.
