Pastor Mike Constantine's Message, 2nd Night Wake Service 3 May 2010

What Kathryn Knew

Quiet Confidence- The signature quality of her life.
in life
in disease
in death
in her hope for eternity.

"But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and He will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see Him for myself. Yes, I will see Him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!
(Job 19:25-27, NLT)

1.She knew there was One God, that he loves every person in the world
-She knew that believing in Jesus was the only way to experience God's love.

2. She knew that the best life is a life of love.
Everyone who knew her said that about her: friends, family, colleagues, even enemies if she had any.
(CS Lewis: A simple life celebrated in heaven)

3. She knew where she was going when she died.
. . . We know that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven--God-made, not handmade-- and we'll never have to relocate our "tents" again. Sometimes we can hardly wait to move--and so we cry out in frustration. Compared to what's coming, living conditions around here seem like a stopover in an unfurnished shack, and we're tired of it! We've been given a glimpse of the real thing, our true home, our resurrection bodies! The Spirit of God whets our appetite by giving us a taste of what's ahead. He puts a little of heaven in our hearts so that we'll never settle for less. That's why we live with such good cheer. You won't see us drooping our heads or dragging our feet! Cramped conditions here don't get us down. They only remind us of the spacious living conditions ahead. It's what we trust in but don't yet see that keeps us going. Do you suppose a few ruts in the road or rocks in the path are going to stop us? When the time comes, we'll be plenty ready to exchange exile for homecoming.
(2Co 5:1-8, Message)

Kathryn wants you to know Jesus so that she can meet you in the Father's House.

(Pastor Mike and Diane Constantine have been good friends to Mark and Kathryn for the past several years)
